Kestrel Take Off
Kestrel Take Off. Award winning photograph. Taken at Antelope Island. Mike Hanson was driving as I had my camera ready for any photo shots. We were driving along the fence line on Antelope Island in the spring. Going very slow, we were looking for any bird activity on the fence. We spotted the Kestrel sitting on the fence about 70 yards ahead of us. Mike slowed his vehicle to a crawl and moved over to the left of the dirt road so the tire noise was quieter. Sitting on the passenger side facing toward the Kestrel, I readied my camera and Nikon 70-200 lens. As we approach almost across from the bird I focused on him and he took off. I was able to capture the moment as the Kestrel stared at me. Yes, one in a million just to see it but let alone capture the moment in time. This photograph has won several awards.
